Character Studies 1x02 - Jim The Maintenace Man.
Jim's a nice guy. A real nice guy. All he wanted to do was fix the cracks above our shower. He just felt it was necessary to ring our doorbell seventeen times. As I groggily opened the door, he proclaimed to the entire apartment building how "effing" sorry he was and how he didn't mean to wake me up.
But I let him in to do his thing. He was like a sad little puppy. "Ohhhh... I tracked mud all over your apartment!" he cried. I half expected him to dub himself "stupid" and smack himself in the forehead.
So he fixed the cracks in the ceiling and announced he'd be back the next day to touch up the paint.
The next day, the doorbell rings seventeen times again. I was
actually sleeping this time, as was Sarah, and again, Jim was clearly furious with himself that he woke us up. Well goddamn it Jim, you probably should have stopped pushing that little button after the fifth time. He went on and on about how he splattered spackle all over our cute little bathroom and how he'd buy us a new rug and a new shower curtain after Sarah and I told him about twelve times that "it's okay" and how sure we were that "it'll wash out." He was clearly very upset with himself. Then, as if he was trying to make it up to us, he proceeded to tell us that he doesn't care if we have parties or smoke pot in our apartment, as long as it's not meth.
Jim stops by about five times a day to tell us all about his projects in the building. I really don't care if he's putting in a new light bulb in Apartment B's kitchen or putting Apartment D's doorknob back on, but I see him as a very fragile individual who is very hard on himself (...which is why I think I'm not going to do anything about the fact that I'm pretty sure he broke my computer screen. He might commit suicide).
If you stop by and we don't answer, call us. Chances are that we're ducking Jim.
This blog did not do the subject justice, but you'll have to forgive me... I've been in my '89 Grand Prix ("Doc Brown") for eight and a half hours today. I may have Matz guest blog and explain the full ins-and-outs of the subject, as only she can.
A weekly five, for I haven't in so long.
"Guilty Pleasures," aka "Fuck You, Yes I Listen To This."
Fall Out Boy -
Dance, Dance-God damn it. Yes. It's catchy as hell.
Mary J Blige -
Be Without You-Soul.
matchbox twenty -
Fast Car (live)-Yeah, I have a thing with Tracy Chapman, but I really do like this song a lot. At least this one doesn't make me pee.
Poison -
Talk Dirty To Me-I don't have to defend Poison as much as I have to defend Bon Jovi, and I find that really bizarre. Bon Jovi as a whole didn't come close to wearing as much makeup as Brett Michaels
himself did. So there. Poison still rocks. \m/.
George Michael -
Faith-Much better than fucking Limp Bizkit.
And now... I'm going to L.A. and Mexico. See you Saturday, bitches!
